For 2011, Peter Kraan is on sabbatical in France, Holland and Australia. He insists he’s working, but his brother-in-law defines sabbatical as being seriously lazy in conjunction with having a first grandchild.
In 2010, Peter was a member of the Executive Committee of TSiBA Education and reponsible for the Entrepreneurship Curriculum within TSiBA, running the Entrepreneurship Centre and overseeing Finance and IT. In January 2007, he launched the Entrepreneurship Centre of TSiBA Education. Previously, after arriving in South Africa in 2005, he had been a volunteer lecturer and tutor in Marketing, Information Technology and Entrepreneurship at TSiBA.
Before coming to South Africa, Peter worked for 8 years as an entrepreneur in Mexico, gaining valuable personal experience of the needs of start-up businesses in the developing countries of Latin America.
Peter Kraan has a unique combination of on-the-ground entrepreneurial experience coupled with longstanding high-level management experience in the corporate sector in Europe and the United States.
In 1991, Peter founded P. Kraan Corporate Engineers (http://pkraan.com/), a consulting company that specializes in start-up companies, mainly software developers. He has successfully helped European and US technology companies realize their potential and grow their market share world-wide. Projects have spanned 18 countries in four continents.
Before 1991, he worked in Switzerland and the US for renowned European companies such as Prognos, Novartis and Bell in key management positions up to board level, in the areas of finance and information systems. He also has significant work experience in marketing and logistics.
He has taught at the Engineering school of Basle (Switzerland) and the Vocational Academy of Loerrach (Germany). Peter has a Master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy from the University of Basle in Switzerland.
