My overriding interest is to foster Entrepreneurship and drive Enterprise Development in resource-poor communities.
Entrepreneurship Education
Many believe that entrepreneurship can’t be taught. I myself used to belong to those that maintained that entrepreneurship is more an attitude and a mind set than anything else. My experience at TSiBA has shown that is not the case and new studies are starting to show that the teaching of entrepreneurship has wide-ranging positive ripple effects on the career path of students. Our graduates are starting to make a difference not because they are better academically but because they have been exposed to four years of practical studies in entrepreneurship and leadership.
Enterprise Development
At TSiBA’s Entrepreneurship Centre we focus on small business in the townships of Cape Town. I am particularly fascinated by practices that facilitate new venture creation and the development of early stage ventures in the context of resource-poor communities. I am a die-hard practitioner, so my focus lies on methodology that works in the real world, whether it is the adaptation of proven methods in other environments or the development of new methods altogether.
